The name Ni Wajo Yi Nok comes from the Kaqchikel language and means “I want to become”, reflecting our vision of empowering students to dream, grow, and reach their potential. At Ni Wajo Yi Nok, we believe education is more than academics—it is about nurturing the whole person. Our school provides Middle School (Básicos) and High School (Diversificado) education for students from vulnerable communities, ensuring they receive quality learning opportunities in a safe and supportive environment.
Beyond academics, we focus on nutrition, ensuring that each student receives healthy meals that support their growth and ability to learn. We also provide differentiated education tailored to the unique needs of our students, making sure every child has the opportunity to thrive.
As part of our commitment to healing and resilience, we run a Trauma Healing Program that integrates Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®), taught by the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development (KPICD) at Texas Christian University (TCU), along with the Compassionate Care Training (CCT) from Trauma Free World. These approaches help students and families overcome the effects of trauma and build strong, healthy relationships.
Through education, nutrition, and trauma-informed care, Ni Wajo Yi Nok is more than a school—it is a place of hope, growth, and transformation.
